One of the worst things about being a parent… having to clean up the aftermath of a blowout. Isn’t is lovely when little one goes poo and next thing you know it’s all up her back and tummy? For baby, it’s simple. Put in the tub and wash up. As for the poor, cute outfits… well they require more work and attention.
We live in an apartment in NYC, so we don’t have our own washer and dryer which makes it that much harder to quickly clean her clothing. Until we take it out, I just hand wash her clothes. I fill her little baby tub with COLD water (warm/hot water will set any stains), add detergent, and soak and scrub the clothes in there. Then, I rinse them out in the sink with COLD water. After wringing the clothes out I hang them up in our apartment to air dry.
If outfits have been pooped in, I just soak the clothes in the soapy water and then scrub, wash, and rinse in the sink. Also, any pooped outfits I’ll dowse with Dreft stain remover and leave it for a couple hours. Then I rinse them out again before drying.
This usually does the trick, but sometimes it doesn’t completely come out. I have seen multiple people suggest 1/3 to 1/2 cup of OxiClean powder to each load. I plan to try this out and will make an updated laundry post in the future.
What do you do to combat those tough poo stains? Leave a comment (I could use some extra advice)!
